These terms describe use of this website and the invited Scarlett Shelf test edition. Scarlett Shelf is not yet available for purchase; these are not customer sales terms.
1. The service
The Valet de Bâtons website and Scarlett Shelf are operated by Robert James Ohara, sole trader. Valet de Bâtons is the brand name used on this website.
Scarlett Shelf is a reading journal and collection-management tool; the Google edition saves records using Google services. It does not supply copyrighted books, promise complete metadata for every title, or replace an e-reader’s native software.
Scarlett Shelf is an independent product and is not endorsed by Google, Kobo, Amazon or any metadata provider.
2. Access and testing
The current app is limited to invited testers. A working Google account and the permissions shown during setup are required for the Google edition. Some features, especially connected-device imports, need a compatible desktop browser. Public access, pricing and purchase links have not been released.
Testing software can contain faults. Keep copies of important data and original pictures, and report problems to support. The optional in-app password does not replace Google account security.
3. Your content and responsible use
Your own notes and records remain yours. Import or upload only material you have permission to use. Book covers, blurbs, illustrations and third-party metadata may carry their own rights and conditions.
Do not use the service to attempt unauthorised access, interfere with other accounts, distribute unlawful content, or bypass the access controls of this app or another service.
4. Metadata and calculations
Third-party book details can be missing, outdated or associated with another edition. Check important information before relying on it. Statistics depend on the records and dates you have entered; device reading percentages are not necessarily exact printed-page counts.
5. Backups and outside services
Keep your own exports. A JSON data backup is not a complete archive of original image files, and restore may replace existing records. Review its preview and retain a safety backup first.
Google, hosting providers and metadata services operate under their own terms and may experience outages, impose limits or change their services. We do not promise uninterrupted service or permanent availability of third-party services. This does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

No payments are accepted on this website. Before sales begin, the product listing and customer terms will explain what the buyer receives, licence limits, compatibility, access arrangements, updates, price and available remedies.
